SKYNOX is a technology company based in Lanzarote, Canary Islands (Spain). We deliver field intelligence: validated, georeferenced data on water networks and critical infrastructure, captured in the field with drones and sensors and processed into information that operators can act on.
THE PROBLEM WE WORK ON
Lanzarote produces almost all its drinking water by desalination, and more than half of it is lost before it reaches a tap. Every lost cubic metre carries an energy and economic cost paid by the whole island. Across Europe, distribution networks lose close to one in four litres. Network managers usually know how much water they lose. Finding where, under kilometres of asphalt, is slow and expensive.
SKYNOX WATER
Our flagship service locates thermal anomalies indicative of leaks in urban water networks. We fly radiometric thermal cameras at dawn, when the contrast between wet subsoil and dry pavement is highest, and process the imagery under a Level III thermography certification. Results are delivered as prioritised, georeferenced points of interest integrated into the utility's own GIS, so field crews can focus acoustic confirmation and excavation where there is real evidence.
-
No excavation and no supply interruption during survey.
-
Tens of kilometres of network covered in a few flight days.
-
Deliverables in standard formats (shapefile/GeoJSON, thermal orthomosaic, certified report).
Thermography does not see leaks directly: it identifies thermal behaviour compatible with a loss, which is then verified on the ground. That full chain (capture, analysis, verification) is what we have standardised.
TRACK RECORD
-
Methodology validated in November 2025 in Tahíche (Lanzarote) together with the island water authority.
-
First public contract in 2026 with the Municipality of Tías (Lanzarote) for 21 km of urban network.
-
CleanTech Award, Al Andalus Innovation Venture 2026 (Seville, September 2026).
-
Talento Sostenible Award 2026 (Fundación Líneas Romero, Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce, Bankinter).
-
Certified Spanish innovative start-up (empresa emergente), incubated at the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce.
WHAT WE ARE DEVELOPING
We are working on a multimodal workflow that combines aerial thermography with complementary ground and remote-sensing layers to reduce false positives and rank anomalies by probability. This fusion is at an early stage (TRL 3) and needs field validation with real utilities before any scale-up. Replication in other territories is subject to local validation of climate, pavement and network conditions.
OTHER CAPABILITIES
The same team and platform also deliver IEC 62446-3 thermographic inspection of solar PV plants, wind turbine inspection, photogrammetry, LiDAR mapping and digital twins for civil works. These lines give us operational scale and reinforce our geospatial expertise.
HOW WE WORK IN EUROPEAN PROJECTS
We see our role as field-data partner inside consortia led by utilities, research centres or larger integrators: we plan and execute the capture campaigns, process the data under documented QA/QC procedures and deliver traceable datasets. Outermost regions such as the Canary Islands offer a real-world testbed for water scarcity, desalination dependence and climate adaptation.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN BRUSSELS
-
Water utilities and network operators interested in a field validation pilot.
-
Consortium coordinators preparing Horizon Europe (Cluster 6, climate and water resilience) or Interreg proposals who need a field-capture and geospatial partner.
-
Research groups working on water-loss analytics, sensor fusion or GIS-based network diagnosis.
-
Public bodies and associations working on water resilience in islands and outermost regions.
Team: three co-founders, all licensed drone pilots (EASA/AESA), covering operations and business development, technology and data, and finance.
