Wallonia-Brussels

The Research and Innovation (R&I) Department of Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI) supports the internationalization of R&I stakeholders in French-Speaking Belgium: our competitiveness clusters, universities, research centres, companies, etc.

We strive to:

• Facilitate contact and cooperation with foreign research and innovation organizations

• Coordinate and prepare the scientific and technological components of official Belgian missions (State Visits, economic missions);

• Strengthen the presence and visibility of our ecosystem in international research programs and networks;

• Develop bilateral research agreements to promote international mobility between foreign researchers and those of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation;

Through its network of 10 Scientific and Academic Advisors (CSA) that are based in leading innovation ecosystems, Wallonia-Brussels International places research and innovation at the heart of its priorities and acts as a bridge between various partners, supporting projects with international scope. Their primary mission is to promote and facilitate collaborations between research and innovation stakeholders in Wallonia-Brussels and those in partner countries. The CSA are assigned to specific geographical areas and work closely with the local host institutions.
