Oxara

Today, the construction industry generates more than one-third of global waste and is responsible for approximately 40% of global CO2 emissions. There is a dire need of material solutions that are sustainable and at the same time circular, cost-effective and available at large scale. That is the ambition of Oxara, an ETH Zurich spin-off founded in 2019, to provide such materials. Oxara develops circular, cement-free, and low-CO2 materials derived from excavation and construction waste that offer viable alternatives to conventional construction materials, produced and implemented using the existing infrastructure of the construction industry—ensuring seamless integration into current processes and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
