The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the world's leading organization for application-oriented research. It currently operates 76 institutes in Germany, of which the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in Stuttgart is one. The institute, headed by Prof. Riedel, has been a renowned partner in the fields of business and work organization, technology management and information and communication technology for more than 40 years. The institute examines the potential of innovative forms of organization as well as future-oriented information and communication technologies in order to derive approaches individually adapted to corporate needs. The bundling of management and technology expertise ensures that economic success, the interests of employees and social impact are always given equal consideration. At the Fraunhofer IAO, around 570 employees - mainly engineers, computer scientists, economists and social scientists - work together on an interdisciplinary basis.
