About

The aim of the project is to develop a digital platform solution for a deposit-return system and a manufacturer- and company-independent digital take-back and sorting system for used textiles. This solution will enable textiles that are no longer suitable for second use to be redirected locally into a standardized fiber recycling loop.

The platform will be based on a Digital Twin of the recycling landscape, enhanced by an AI-driven decision system that selects the most suitable recycling route depending on:

  • the condition of the discarded textile,

  • the geographic distance,

  • and the capabilities of nearby waste management or recycling operators.

This digital infrastructure aims to strengthen textile circularity at the EU level, addressing systemic challenges in textile waste management and enabling cross-border interoperability.
