Process analytical technology (PAT) for monitoring chemical processes
About
Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools can make processes’ blind spots visible, increase our knowledge about the state of the system in real time, and are invaluable ingredients for reducing downtimes, optimizing yields, and for the implementation of sustainable practices (for instance solvent regeneration)
At CHASE, we develop PAT tools for diverse applications in the petrochemical, biotechnology, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. One primary focus lies in the applicaton of vibrational spectroscopy, predominantly in the liquid phase, supporting precise and timely process monitoring and control. We bring advanced sensing to the industry, We adapt, implement and deploy sensors to their real-world industrial application. This includes feasibility assessment, in particular for Raman based sensors, where we test setups, modelling, and calibration to assess the suitabilty of the method. In addition, we model systems on various scales (including Computational Fluid Dynamics, thermodynamic modelling, and also data-driven techniques). The models enable us to understand process observations, accompany the identification of pain points, and help us make informed decisions in process design and improvement.
Our Expertise at a glance:
• Novel PAT tools for petro-, bio-, and chemical and pharmaceutical process monitoring • Vibrational spectroscopy for process control (mostly) in liquid phase • Sensor adaptation, implementation, and deployment; feasibility assessment • Diverse tailored modelling approaches (CFD, thermodynamic, data-driven)
