About me
Fernando J. Álvarez received his Physics degree from the University of Sevilla (Spain), his Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Extremadura (Spain), his M.S. degree in Signal Theory and Communications from the University of Vigo (Spain), and his Ph.D. degree in Electronics from the University of Alcalá (Spain). He is currently a Full Professor of Digital Electronics in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation at the University of Extremadura, Spain, where he has been working since 2001. During 2008 he was a postdoctoral ’José Castillejo’ Fellow in the Intelligent Sensors Laboratory, Yale University (USA). His research areas of interest include local positioning systems, acoustic signal processing and embedded computing. He has published 59 articles in international journals, has contributed with more that 150 communications to national and international conferences and has led eleven research projects (two European, six National and three Regional). He is currently vice-chair of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Spain chapter, Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement Journal (Q1) an Associate Editor of the Expert Systems with Applications Journal (Q1).
