About

DigitalTwin Technology GmbH (Cologne, Germany) specializes in AI-powered digital twin solutions combining 4D Gaussian Splatting, physics-based simulation, IoT integration, and immersive 3D/VR/AR visualization. The company develops mobile and cloud-based platforms for real-time 3D reconstruction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and

The company has delivered branded digital twin platforms including Constructionware (AI-powered 4D construction monitoring), Airportware (airport digital twins with IoT analytics), Railware (railway simulation and safety), Industryware (Industry 4.0 automation), Tunnelware (tunnel BIM modeling), and Cityware (smart city planning). Several of these platforms involve the digitization, monitoring, and preservation of built environments — capabilities directly transferable to cultural heritage site documentation and valorisation.

DigitalTwin Technology is an active participant in 14 EU-funded research projects, demonstrating extensive experience in European collaborative R&D and cascade funding mechanisms. Of particular relevance to the Cultural Heritage Value Chain are three ongoing projects. In SCENE (Creative Industries), the company performed 3D recreation of heritage buildings and heritage areas using Gaussian Splatting, gaining direct hands-on experience in digitizing culturally significant structures for immersive visualization and preservation. In DIDYMOS-XR (3D Scene Reconstruction), the company carried out full 3D recreation of entire city environments for digital tourism applications, demonstrating the scalability of its reconstruction technology from individual buildings to urban-scale heritage landscapes. In ENERGENIUS (Energy Transition), the company is actively developing Pocket4DGS — its on-device 4D Gaussian Splatting technology — for indoor reconstruction of residential houses and apartments, with a specific focus on energy appliance detection and consumption profiling. This indoor-focused technology forms the direct technical foundation for the proposed RENAISSANCESCAN project, where it will be enhanced and extended to support heritage building interiors and exteriors.
