SPACECARE – Secure Satellite Connectivity for Remote & Resilient Healthcare

SPACECARE explores how secure satellite connectivity, IoT and AI-enabled digital services can improve access to healthcare in remote, underserved and crisis-prone areas.

Many rural, island, mountainous and emergency-affected regions still face limited access to reliable digital infrastructure and specialist healthcare services. SPACECARE proposes a resilient digital-health connectivity framework that combines satellite communications with secure data exchange, connected medical devices and AI-supported services.

Potential use cases include:

• telemedicine and remote consultations;
• secure transmission of health data from remote locations;
• IoT-enabled monitoring of patients and medical equipment;
• AI-supported triage and decision-support tools;
• connectivity for mobile or temporary healthcare units;
• continuity of digital healthcare services during emergencies or infrastructure disruption;
• support for isolated, rural and underserved communities.

A key objective is to ensure that connectivity and digital-health services remain secure, trustworthy and resilient. The project may therefore address cybersecurity, data protection, interoperability, AI governance, explainability, human oversight and responsible use of AI.

ZEUS Consulting can contribute through its expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Responsible AI, ICT and digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital resilience and Horizon Europe project development.

We are particularly interested in collaborating with satellite and telecommunications providers, universities and research organisations, healthcare institutions, telemedicine specialists, AI and ICT companies, cybersecurity providers, public authorities and organisations with access to remote or underserved pilot environments.

The objective is to build a complementary European consortium capable of combining secure connectivity, digital technologies and real-world healthcare needs, creating scalable solutions that strengthen access, resilience and continuity of care across Europe.
