Mariam Swaleh

Dr. Mariam Swaleh is an environmental chemist whose research focuses on marine science. Raised in the coastal city of Mombasa, her deep connection to the ocean inspired her passion for marine research. She holds a PhD in Chemistry and is the Project Lead of the Ocean-Climate Innovation Hub Kenya (Ufukwe Marine Centre). Dr. Swaleh also serves as the Assistant Registrar for Research and Grants in the Partnership Research and Innovation Office at the Technical University of Mombasa. Her work centers on ocean-based climate solutions, sustainable wastewater treatment, and advancing the climate-positive blue economy in Kenya.
