SYNGULON
About
Syngulon is a synthetic biology startup developing original genetic technologies using bacteriocins, natural antimicrobial peptides.
For decades, E. coli systems have relied on antibiotics. That era is ending. Regulators are moving fast: the USDA CVB Notice 23-06 states, “For newly licensed products, biologics should not contain any AMR genes.”
On March 25, 2026, we announced a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Elanco Animal Health, a global leader in animal health, granting worldwide access to our proprietary bacteriocin-based microbial selection technologies.
Even if your products are currently not USDA-regulated, it is prudent to anticipate similar global policies.
At Syngulon, we have built the must-have solution: antibiotic-free selection systems powered by bacteriocins.
- No AMR genes – fully compliant with new rules
- High plasmid stability – reliable at scale
- No genetic drift – consistent, sustainable production
In addition to our antibiotic-free technologies, Syngulon’s original and disruptive technologies are also solving another problem relevant for the bioeconomy:
The prevention of microbial contamination by using bacteriocins that target the bacteria harming the production process; key markets are ethanol, cooling towers, feed, food, cosmetics, biobased products, and animal health.
Syngulon has the largest collection of bacteriocins (PARAGEN with more than 500) and currently has 11 families of patents (with 3 in co-ownership with one university), with already issued Patents in USA (9), EU (2), China (3), Brazil (3), Japan (3), India (2) and Korea.
