PLN Four Gas-Fired Power Projects (PLTMG) Across Indonesia

President Director at PT PLN Indonesia Power

Indonesia

About

PLN is developing four gas-fired power projects (PLTMG) across Indonesia to strengthen regional grid reliability and reduce production costs.

PLTMG Bali (Pesanggaran), 200 MW – Located at the UBP Pesanggaran development site, evacuating power through the 150 kV Pesanggaran GIS. Targeted for COD in 2026 under the RUPTL 2025–2034, this self-development (full equity) project is valued at approximately US$320.4 million and uses 3.45 hectares of Pelindo land under a signed cooperation agreement. At a 42% capacity factor, it is projected to generate 735,840 MWh annually, with an 18-month construction period and a 20-year useful life.

PLTMG Nias 2 and Nias 3, 25 MW – Sited in Humene Village, Gunung Sitoli, Nias Island, North Sumatra, interconnecting to the Gunung Sitoli 70 kV substation. Targeted for COD in 2027, funded through self-development with a 70:30 DER scheme, valued at roughly US$72 million. Requiring 1.53 ha of land, the plant is expected to produce 100,740 MWh in its first year at a 46% capacity factor.

PLTMG Minahasa, 150 MW – Located in Wineru Village, East Likupang, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi (~16 ha land requirement), connecting to the Likupang 150 kV substation within the North Sulawesi–Gorontalo grid. Phased COD of 100 MW in 2026 and 50 MW in 2027, self-funded (full equity) at approximately US$217.5 million. First-year output is projected at 365,000 MWh (41.7% capacity factor), with a 24-month construction period.

PLTMG Timika 2, 40 MW – Situated in Pomako Village, East Mimika, Central Papua, adjacent to the existing PLTMG Timika 10 MW facility, interconnecting via the Pomako 150 kV substation. This dual-fuel (LNG/biodiesel) project addresses growing demand and reserve margin needs in the Timika system, targeting 2026 COD with a total value of approximately Rp1.92 trillion. Feasibility studies are complete and EPC procurement is underway, with projected annual output of 262.8 GWh at 75% capacity factor.
