Hyeondeok District, Gyeonggi-do: A Future-Oriented Carbon-Free Smart City
About
The Hyeondeok District is a 2.3㎢ urban development project located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, within the Seoul Metropolitan Area. Strategically positioned near Pyeongtaek Port, Incheon International Airport, and Seoul. The district offers excellent accessibility for global logistics and business operations. The project envisions the creation of a carbon-free, hydrogen-based smart city, designed to attract next-generation industries and environmentally sustainable businesses. The development will be structured into 4 specialized zones such as mobility zone, renewable energy zone, semiconductor zone and logistics zone. The master developer will be the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH), a public entity under Gyeonggi Provincial Government. GH is currently conducting a feasibility study to assess infrastructure needs, investment potential, and regulatory frameworks.
