Astra SRL designs and manufactures customer-specific hypersonic testing facilities based on industrial components, and is able to minimize complexity and cost with systems which overcome challenges in the reliability and low productivity of other typical hypersonic wind tunnels.

Using proprietary software, Astra sets facility design parameters such as torch type, chamber pressure, nozzle design and instrumentation based on customer requirements. Astra builds and validates the facility, then demonstrates system performance and assists customers with the setting of process parameters and diagnostic tools.

Astra also designs: a) customer-specific total enthalpy probes and associated control systems; b) heat flux probes based on simple, affordable and precise slug sensors for aerospace applications as well as for fire testing, textile and biophysical testing, conductivity measurement of materials and nuclear energy studies.
