Progenus is a Belgian molecular biology company with 25 years of experience in DNA analysis, genetic testing and the development of molecular solutions for industrial and research applications.

We combine scientific expertise, advanced molecular technologies and a flexible approach to support companies, laboratories and research organizations in their quality control, product development and innovation projects.

Our activities cover molecular analysis, DNA sequencing, custom PCR assay development, and the development and manufacturing of molecular diagnostic kits.

Food Authentication and Quality Control

We help food manufacturers, processors, importers and quality control laboratories verify product authenticity and composition using DNA-based technologies.

Our services include:

• Species identification by DNA sequencing, including the authentication of fish, seafood and other animal-derived ingredients.

• Species detection and quantification by PCR, supporting ingredient verification and the detection of undeclared species.

• Development of customized molecular assays for specific species, ingredients and complex food matrices.

• Bacterial identification and characterization using 16S sequencing and whole genome sequencing (WGS).

These services can support raw material verification, supplier quality control, product authenticity investigations and analytical method development.

Custom Molecular Assay Development
