About me
HILAN WARSHAW is an Emmy Award-winning director and writer. He has produced and directed internationally broadcast documentaries and films about classical music including Wagner’s Jews (WDR/ARTE, PBS-WNET, Israel’s Channel 8, Deutsche Welle and others); Secret Song with Renée Fleming and the Emerson String Quartet (SVT, Medici TV, PBS-AllArts, Czech TV, others); Through the Darkness (ORF, SVT, YLE, Medici TV); My Boléro with Nathalie Stutzmann (PBS-GPB, Medici TV; 2024 Southeast Emmy winner, Best Arts/Entertainment Long Form); In the Key of Bach (PBS-GPB); Honorable Mr. Morgenthau (PBS-WNET); Mahler in New York (SVT, Czech TV); and The Faces of Carmen (WDR). Hilan is also a busy multi-camera live director of concert captures for orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and The Cleveland Orchestra. He has a background as a violinist and orchestral conductor, and attended film school at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he earned his B.F.A. and M.F.A.
