Fraunhofer Italia

Fraunhofer Italia Research Scarl - Innovation Engineering Center is the first legally independent foreign affiliate in Italy of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and was founded in December 2009 in Bolzano by Assoimprenditori Alto Adige and with the support of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. It is a non-profit research institution that has been operating since 2017 in its new headquarters at NOI Techpark in Bolzano, the house of innovation in South Tyrol. In 2019, Fraunhofer Italia application center ARENA was created, a physical space directly located at the NOI where applied research activities of Fraunhofer Italia take shape. Here, researchers from Fraunhofer Italia work together with public and private stakeholders of all sizes and sectors on current applied research topics with the aim of achieving a dual transformation: digitalization and sustainability.
