Session 1: Roundtables - Ben Powdrell - Producer & Editor
Ben Powdrell is an editor, vfx editor, writer and producer with over 20 years experience in television, theatre and film production. He has worked as editor on numerous film projects including Feature Documentary THE STOLEN CHILDREN OF AOTEAROA, (tvnz+, WhakaataMāori) LA VERDAD, short films DIE LIKE A SHARK and STRANGER. 2023 saw the release of Ben’s edited feature films RED WHITE AND BRASS (Piki Films, #1 NZ box office), RIVER OF FREEDOM (Braided River Films, #3 NZ box office) and 1978 (Clarative Media). Ben's television highlights include editing multiple seasons of political satire FACELIFT, Emmy and Qantas award winning drama series RESERVOIR HILL, and CBBC/TVNZ co-production PARADISE CAFE, MILES FROM NOWHERE and a number of documentary series with the Gibson Group.
In 2020 Ben completed his M.A. in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) from Victoria University of Wellington’s International Institute of Modern Letters and in 2021 was commissioned to write a series of digital animated books LITTLE BIG THINKERS for Rascality Media. Alongside Fran they are currently producing animated series BLOKE OF THE APOCALYPSE and STINKY PITS for their company SUITE HABANA PRODUCTIONS.
