My organisation
The mission of this non-profit organization is to serve as a research center for all students in the southern Württemberg region, providing high-quality STEM education and fostering enthusiasm for STEM subjects among young people. Furthermore, the SFZ is a recognized institution where teachers in the STEM field develop high-quality teaching and learning materials.
The goal is to foster an interest in STEM subjects among young people, regardless of their social background or educational level, and to encourage their enthusiastic participation in the SFZ program. The program targets students from elementary school through high school graduation. In addition, it promotes the development of core values.
Both the school administration and the teaching staff are involved in promoting extracurricular STEM activities, with the aim of engaging both teachers and students for the SFZ. The SFZ's offerings complement those of the schools. Opportunities for both teachers and volunteers are provided to contribute their knowledge and expertise.
The SFZ offers a free and comprehensive range of extracurricular STEM activities as part of a non-profit organization. Similar to sports, it offers opportunities for both recreational and competitive participation.
The shortage of skilled professionals clearly demonstrates the need to promote and enhance STEM education. Early career orientation is therefore encouraged, along with fostering the social skills necessary for teamwork. The extensive network of the SFZ with industry partners also facilitates opportunities for further training and development, such as internships and career guidance.
It has long been recognized that promoting STEM education is essential. For this reason, the oldest and widely networked extracurricular STEM organization is receiving significant support. This support includes financial assistance from the municipal/district level as well as funding from the ministry of education.
The South Württemberg Student Research Center (SFZ) e.V. is officially recognized by the Tübingen Regional Council of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg as an extracurricular learning and research center.
