Ronan PIERRE leads the Innovation & Products Department at CEVA, focusing on sustainable conversion of algae and product development across all markets.
CEVA offers its expertise to initiate, advise and support R & D and economic development projects for seaweed and microalgae production and industrial applications in various fields : human, animal and vegetal nutrition & health, cosmetics, biomaterials and bio-based ingredients, bioremediation of effluents. it also supports companies with their sourcing requirements. CEVA’s expertise also encompasses environmental aspects and monitoring of water quality and aquatic vegetation.
To this end, CEVA owns and operates various inshore and offshore platforms dedicated to field experimentation of new technologies and can provide specific contract research, analytical and pilot production services as well as consulting services. CEVA incorporates aquaculture facilities (hatchery + platforms for on-land cultivation of macro and microalgae and a 6 ha open sea marine farm), R&D laboratories with modern analytical tools, and a semi-industrial platform (1000 m²) for processing algal biomass from harvest to active ingredients and products. CEVA also offers training programs.
Ronan PIERRE is currently Manager of the Innovation & Products Department at CEVA since 2013. His team focuses on product development and sustainable conversion of seaweeds and microalgae into value-added products across all market sectors. He is also in charge of CEVA’s analytical laboratories and pilot processing facility.
Before joining CEVA, he occupied several positions in the industry and in academic groups and spent the last 25 years within various industrial R&D structures focusing on biomass-derived chemicals and ingredients.
