Patient Testimony & Panel — From Innovation to Patient Access: Is Belgium Ready to Deliver? OR ATMP Access in Belgium: From Fragmented Pathways to a Patient-Ready System
Advanced therapies only create value if they can effectively reach the patients who need them. This session will begin with a patient testimony, bringing a real-life perspective on the treatment journey and highlighting the practical, human and organisational challenges that can arise once an innovative therapy moves beyond development. Building on this perspective, the panel will explore whether Belgium is sufficiently prepared to deliver advanced therapies at scale. The discussion will focus on hospital readiness, treatment centres, patient referral pathways, apheresis, logistics, nursing capabilities and coordination across the care journey. The objective is to identify the practical gaps that may limit patient access and to discuss what needs to be strengthened across hospitals, clinical teams and the wider ecosystem to ensure that scientific and industrial innovation translates into timely, safe and effective access for patients.
