With a background in material science, I am developing new bio-based colloids/powders for healthcare and agriculture.

About me

In 1998, I completed my PhD thesis in the field of surface treatments for the high temperature protection of alloys. This PhD was performed at the Laboratoire des Sciences de l’Ingénieur pour l’Environnement (LaSIE) - UMR CNRS 7356 (former LEMMA) in La Rochelle (France) under the guidance of Pierre Moine. In 1998, I did my first post-doctoral fellowship in the domain of protective coatings and electrochemistry (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain). In 2000, I began my second post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Paris 6, France. I worked there for 12 months on electrochemistry and corrosion protection. In 2001, I was professor assistant at the University of Paris 5, France. I worked there for 2 years on organic coatings for sensing. In May 2003, I joined LIST (formerly the Gabriel Lipmann public research centre) as a researcher in the Surface Treatment unit.  I developed several technology portfolios around plasma polymer coatings, plasma treatments at atmospheric pressure and ceramic coatings. On 1st January 2015, I was appointed senior R&T scientist in the Nano Unit and then, lead R&T scientist in August 2024 working on Powder and colloidal chemistry at LIST. My research topic focus on the synthesis of colloids and powders with high-efficiency processes and biosourced or biocompatible materials.  I am devoting my effort to create value and to transfer these innovative materials to several industrial sectors (e.g. Healthcare, Composite, Environment, Agriculture) by solving challenges at interfaces between design, manufacturing, and performances demonstration. Currently leading research on biobased antimicrobial coatings and biobased colloids for industry, I am targeting to work more closely to the healthcare, Space and agriculture market needs. I am involved in joint activities on biomedical topics with the CEITEC (Czech R.) for developing new materials to provide smart dressings for tissue regeneration, with European Space Agency for developing biobased antimicrobial coatings and with chemical industry to produce safer or biobased agrochemicals. I have coordinated bilateral Industrial projects (ESA), collaborative Luxembourg FNR projects and M-ERA.net projects in collaboration with companies (FREWITT, Thales Alenia, ING Medical) and was involved as PhD supervisor in different national or international projects. So far, I published 60 papers and filled 5 patents.
