Applied Quantum Materials Inc.
About
Founded in 2015, Applied Quantum Materials (AQM) is a privately owned, Edmonton-based, ISO 9001, global leader in the synthesis and manufacturing of silicon, graphene, nanocomposite polymers, and other metal nanomaterials, and bio-compatible silicon quantum dots. We manufacture functional silicone and silane compounds used in coatings and additives for electronic, life sciences, and textile applications.
Quantum materials developed by AQM such as molecular resins, graphene, and quantum dots (QDs), are transforming photonic and optoelectronic devices by enabling strong light–matter interactions at the nanoscale. These materials allow for the development of next-generation, high-speed, and energy-efficient devices for applications in quantum computing, sensing, and communications. AQM works with clients to build many devices essential to the growth of the semiconductor industry.
We have successfully demonstrated and built Canada’s first solid-state battery that is non-lithium ion based, high capacity, requires no critical minerals, and is 100% recyclable.
With over 310 customers in 30 countries, we support and work with universities, national labs in many countries, and multinational corporations. Our nanomaterials are used to construct quantum computers, photonic devices, silicon waveguides, sensors, nanocomposite polymers, smart textiles, optical films, and biomedical applications.
Our HSQ photo resists provides world class microchip patterning with feature sizes from <7 nm to over 2 µm. Our nanomaterials are used as additives for PFAS-free amphiphobic coatings. We can modify the mechanical, optical, electronic, chemical, and magnetic properties of materials to achieve UV blocking, hydrophobicity, oleophobicity, amphiphobicity, anti-bacterial, or conductive applications. We have distribution partners in Japan, Korea, U.S., Europe, Taiwan, and China.
