ICOMACON (Intelligent Cognitive Motion Controller) is an advanced industrial hardware controller developed to integrate motion control, automation, human–machine interaction and embedded on-premise AI into a unified and modular architecture.

The system has been designed to replace fragmented traditional industrial control architectures—where PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs and external computing units operate independently—by consolidating these functionalities into a single scalable and customizable platform. This approach reduces hardware redundancy, simplifies engineering processes, lowers energy consumption and enhances system interoperability.

A key differentiating element of ICOMACON is the technological independence it provides to machine manufacturers. The platform is fully customizable at hardware and architectural level, allowing OEMs to define the specific I/O configuration, processing capacity, communication interfaces and system layout required for each application. The controller can be branded under the manufacturer’s own identity, reinforcing product differentiation and market positioning.

Unlike proprietary ecosystems, ICOMACON enables OEMs to define their own hardware upgrade roadmap. Manufacturers decide when and how to scale processing capacity, expand functionalities or update hardware modules, without being constrained by third-party release cycles or licensing dependencies. This significantly reduces vendor lock-in, strengthens supply chain resilience and provides full lifecycle control over their industrial architecture.

ICOMACON enables real-time control, intelligent operator assistance and predictive diagnostics directly at machine level, without reliance on external cloud infrastructure. Its embedded AI capabilities operate on-premise, ensuring data sovereignty, cybersecurity compliance and deterministic performance in demanding industrial environments.

The controller supports Industry 5.0 principles by reinforcing human–machine collaboration, improving operational efficiency and enhancing sustainability through optimized energy management and reduced hardware requirements.

ICOMACON is applicable across multiple industrial sectors, including machine tools, robotics, energy systems, industrial mobility and electromechanical equipment—particularly in applications where precise, reliable and intelligent motion control is critical.

The development of ICOMACON has been supported by the HAZITEK 2025 R&D programme, reinforcing its technological robustness and its alignment with advanced industrial innovation strategies in Europe.
