About
The Molecular Diagnostic Research Group (MDRG) is affiliated with the University of Yaoundé I and the Biotechnology Center (B.P.: 11864 Yaoundé, Cameroon). The group operates a Molecular Diagnostic Research Laboratory dedicated to advancing research on infectious diseases such as malaria, typhoid fever, Epstein-Barr virus, SARS-CoV-2, and tuberculosis, among others. MDRG has several partnerships and is a proud member of the African Coalition for Epidemic Research, Response and Training (ALERRT) and the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).
The group consists of diverse members, including master’s and PhD students, fostering a rich academic environment. MDRG combines laboratory analysis, protocol development, and bioinformatics approaches to study host-pathogen interactions and improve molecular diagnostics. The team has published several papers in high-impact journals, contributing significantly to infectious disease knowledge and public health in Sub-Saharan Africa. MDRG also prioritizes capacity building and international collaboration to promote precision medicine and epidemic preparedness.
