At the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), we are dedicated to advancing health through innovative research and development in the fields of epidemiology, biomedical sciences, and public health. Our team collaborates with local and international partners to tackle pressing health challenges faced by our communities, focusing on diseases prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa. We strive to translate our research findings into effective health interventions, improving the overall quality of life for individuals in Kenya and beyond. About me

Dr. Erick M.O. Muok is an experienced researcher and public health manager with a strong background in virology, immunology, and health systems strengthening. He formerly served as a genomics laboratory capacity building to the Rwandan-Zambian HIV Research Group, focusing on laboratory capacity building in Kigali, Rwanda. In western Kenya, he has led and supported numerous projects as Principal and Co-Principal Investigator, offering technical, logistical, administrative, and financial oversight in areas such as nutrition, parasite immunology, drug resistance, and targeted neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) including schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths.

Dr. Muok completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Emory University’s Vaccine Center in Atlanta, GA, and He is a certified Clinical Trial Monitor (CRA) and holds management training from the Kenya School of Government in Strategic Leadership and from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in Health Leadership and Management.

Currently, he is the Senior Principal Research Scientist and Deputy Director at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR). He also serves as the Regional Coordinator for Neglected Infectious Diseases under the East African Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR) Network of Excellence.
