About me

My main research interest is in Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD’s) and in Non communicable Diseases (NCD). In the area of NCD research, I have been involved in epidemiological research in cardiometablic diseases notably stroke, diabetes and hypertension. In NTD research, my disease of interest has been visceral Leishmaniaisis (VL), where I have been involved in several studies specifically clinical trials as the disease has few treatment options and is fatal if left untreated. In addition, I’m a member of the Leishmania East Africa Platform (LEAP), a platform that conducts regional multicentre VL clinical trials, a member of Kenya Association of Physicians (KAP), and a member of East Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians (ECSACOP).
