About me
I am Getachew Abeshu, a senior researcher and psychologist at Jimma University, Ethiopia, with extensive expertise in community mental health and psychosocial support systems. Over my thirty years career, I have spearheaded research and interventions addressing mental health disparities in Sub-Saharan Africa, including WHO-funded projects on post-conflict trauma recovery and EU-supported initiatives integrating digital mental health tools into rural healthcare systems. My work at Jimma University’s College of Education and Behavioral Sciences emphasizes culturally sensitive approaches to mental health, aligning with the Health Hub’s mission to advance equitable, interdisciplinary solutions for global health challenges. My leadership in regional networks of Mental Health Consortium, positions me to strengthen the Hub’s connections with African institutions and amplify its impact on Horizon Europe priorities like health equity and inclusive innovation.
