About
TextaDNA (textadna.eu) is an European project funded by the European Innovation Council pioneering groundbreaking nanomaterials for digital data storage by embedding synthetic DNA into polymer fibers and NGS retrieval. This innovative technique offers an eco-friendly, low-cost, and scalable solution for DNA preservation and protection of data encoded in it.
The project is coordinated by CIC nanoGUNE (nanogune.eu) and involves the participation of Eurofins Genomics (eurofinsgenomics.eu) as a partner. We are members of the 2022 EIC Pathfinder Challenge Portfolio that seeks to develop DNA-based digital data storage technologies.
We have generated and patented a library of nanomaterials that protect DNA and other oligonucleotides embedded within nanofibers. Beyond data storage, our roadmap includes the healthcare industry, where our materials can serve as critical tools for stabilizing biological samples and ensuring supply chain integrity through molecular tagging. Furthermore, we want to expand the scope of our nanofibers to drug delivery applications.
